A Government Minister has backed Cybermoor's Tyne Valley Broadband Scheme on the day they launched their Broadband Share Offer.  Residents of the South Tyne Valley will soon have a new fibre broadband service following the launch of a local community share offer. Fibre optic cables are being laid along the old railway track from Park Village to Slaggyford and soon local residents will have the chance to connect.

Being able to choose from a wide range of services from one place has proved popular with customers and feedback has been very positive.

Stage 5 of this year’s Tour of Britain will finish on 10th September with the climb from Melmerby up to Hartside! Eden District Council’s Tourism team invite you to a Tour of Britain Information Evening at the North Lakes Hotel at 7pm on Tuesday, 2 June to advise how Eden communities and businesses can make the most of the race.

Unity is the nation's fundraising lottery scheme. It's designed to give good causes large and small ... from village playground fund to international charity ... the chance to gain support and raise valuable funds through their own weekly lottery draw.  You can take part in this lottery for as little as £1 per week, with 50p of every £1 going to Alston Moor Partnership to help support local causes. The remaining 50p is used to provide prizes and cover the scheme's administration costs.

Electric bikes are now available for residents and visitors to use in and around Alston Moor.  The bikes are available to collect from four hire points in Alston, Nenthead and Garrigill and are free to hire for Alston Moor residents.

As a result of recent incidents in the Alston, Nenthead and Garrigill areas, including two burglaries at the Council Depot, a vehicle stolen from Nenthead (later found crashed on the B6277 near the border) and disturbances in Overburn at 3am the following morning, Cumbria Police are requesting that ANY suspicious activity be reported immediately.
