Alston Live Music Festival is a not to be missed one-day event taking place at Tyne Willows Playing Fields on Saturday, 19th July from 12 noon until dusk (sometime around 10 o'clock).  There will be a main stage and an acoustic tent, as well as lots of things to do, eat and drink. Tickets for the day cost £15 bought in advance or £20 on the day. U16's are free, but must be accompanied by an adult.  Camping is also available at £10 per tent.

The June meeting of Alston Moor Parish Council included discussions and updates on the community defribrilators, post 16 education bus transport and footway lighting, but started with a presentation from the Cumbria Commissioning Group about the development of a five year plan for local NHS services and other associated services.

As part of the Sustain Eden project, an electric bike and cycle hire scheme is being setup in Alston Moor. The project is looking for an enthusiastic individual with the qualities and experience to develop the hire scheme. If you have a real interest and enthusiasm for cycling, then this could be the job for you!

Alston Moor Parish Council has taken the first step towards developing a Neighbourhood Plan for the parish. The first stage in developing a Neighbourhood Plan is to designate the 'neighbourhood area' it will cover. The application undergoes a 6 week consultation period, which ends on 2 June 2014.  If approved, Alston Moor Parish Councill will have the right to produce their own neighbourhood plan or neighbourhood development orders.

Alston Moor Partnership recently found out that it has received initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for a Townscape Heritage project for AlstonTown Centre. The project aims to improve town centre properties to provide a more attractive environment for people to both live in and visit. Empty shops will be refurbished and other properties improved to give a much needed boost to business confidence, and as new shops open.
