Cumbria Leader Programme Information Event

The new Solway Border & Eden LEADER Programme is now open for grants to small businesses, community organisations, farmers and foresters for projects that create jobs and grow the rural economy. Sam Bramwell, the Programme’s Lead Officer will give an overview of the programme on Tuesday, 23rd February, 2pm at Samuel King's School.

Electric Vehicle Charging in Alston

Cybermoor is setting up a new social enterprise called Charge my Street to install and operate electric vehicle (EV) charging points around the County.  Unfortunately, Alston missed out on the Cumbria County Council fast chargers that were installed last year in most parts of the County such as Penrith, Carlisle, Kendal and Keswick.  As more people drive EVs, chargepoints will become more important, both for visitors to Alston and local residents.   Please complete our survey by 25th January....

Roof of England Sportive comes to Alston Moor on Sunday

The Roof of England 2015 Sportive will be coming through Nenthead, Alston, Leadgate and Garrigill this Sunday, 30th August.  The riders set off from St John's Chapel between 8am to 9am, so are expected to pass through Alston town centre between 8.40am and 10.15am.

Tour of Britain coming to Hartside

In case you haven't heard... Stage 5 of this year’s Tour of Britain will finish on 10th September with the climb from Melmerby up to Hartside! Eden District Council’s Tourism team invite you to a Tour of Britain Information Evening at the North Lakes Hotel at 7pm on Tuesday, 2 June to advise how Eden communities and businesses can make the most of the race.
