Alston Police Station at Townhead has no public reception and is by appointment only. Please telephone 101 to make an appointment with an officer. However, Brampton Police Station, Longtown Road, Brampton, is open from 9am until 1pm Monday to Saturday.

Durranhill Police Station, Brunel Way, Carlisle is open from 8am till midnight on all of these dates.

Saturday, 26th April - Cash Till Stolen

An unknown offender entered the youth hostel in Alston and stole a cash till containing £200. The cash till was a grey sloping fronted cash till and was taken from an unlocked office within the hostel. It is unknown whether the offender left the area by foot or in a vehicle.

24th/25th of April - Windows damaged

Overnight at Pennine Ways, Front Street, Alston, two front windows were damaged with bricks. One brick went right through the window and damaged the display inside, and the other brick cracked the front window and landed on the pavement outside.

5th April 2014 - Stolen Scrap Alston Area

Between 8am and 9am this morning, there has been theft of scrap metal and an attempted theft of ladders, both incidents were in the Alston area, one male was seen driving a white ford Transit van in very clean condition with part Reg No of NK 54 ???. If you see any suspicious incidents in your area similar please try to get the Reg No, note the direction of travel and call 101 immediately.

Current local priorities identified within Alston Moor and actions taken by the police are as follows:

Speeding A689 Nenthead Village

High visibility patrols for public reassurance and to prevent offences. Trained officers to use speed enforcement devices to detect offences and routine vehicle checks to detect motoring offences and drink drive offences with education about road safety being the main focus.

ASB off road Motorcycles at Coalcleugh Moor and Garrigill

Hi Visibility patrols will be present during the identified times. Also we will liaise with local gamekeepers and cross border forces, to target the offenders. Stop checks will be carried out on the motorcycles used, with a view to prosecute the offenders through the criminal justice system.

Cumbria Constabulary produces monthly updates from Alston's Neighbourhood Police Team, which tells you who local policing team are, dates of next priority meetings and information on latest crimes within the area.

Brampton Policing Team circulate monthly NPT newsletters via CCM to everyone registered in our policing area to keep them up to date with current crime trends, problems affecting the area, security advice, community engagement, contact numbers including names and faces of the officers who are policing your area.

We send out crime alerts keeping you updated about crime in your area, details of suspicious vehicles and people in your area and whom we need to trace. We provide details of operations we are conducting in your area to deal with issues you have raised such as anti social driving operations. We also publish details of any public meetings we are holding that month.
