Cybermoor is setting up a new social enterprise called Charge my Street to install and operate electric vehicle (EV) charging points around the County.  Unfortunately, Alston missed out on the Cumbria County Council fast chargers that were installed last year in most parts of the County such as Penrith, Carlisle, Kendal and Keswick.  As more people drive EVs, chargepoints will become more important, both for visitors to Alston and local residents.   Please complete our survey by 25th January....

Cybermoor is setting up a new social enterprise called Charge my Street to install and operate electric vehicle (EV) charging points around the County.  EO on Wall 1Unfortunately,Alston missed out on the Cumbria County Council fast chargers that were installed last year in most parts of the County such as Penrith, Carlisle, Kendal and Keswick.  As more people drive EVs, chargepoints will become more important, both for visitors to Alston and local residents.

Two clear trends are emerging – 90% of charging takes place overnight and most of this happens at home.  Where does that leave residents without a driveway, such as people on Front Street, Church Rd and The Butts?  Charge my Street aims to raise investment for a community fast charging point (22kWh).  We are investigating hosting the chargepoint at Samuel Kings School, which would be available for overnight & weekend charging for residents and visitors.  Visitors with EVs are likely to prioritise destinations where they charge up their battery and accommodation providers would be able to provide access to this chargepoint for their guests.

Please take 2 minutes to do our short survey which will form part of our proposal to Governors at SKS for hosting the chargepoint in Alston.  https://goo.gl/forms/3T4M2ysI0L9zXQWM2 The survey closes on 25/1/18.  If we get the green light from the governors then we would hope to get the chargepoint installed in the summer.
