Defibrillators are now located outside the main entrance of Alston Town Hall, at Nenthead Community Shop and inside the entrance of Garrigill Village Hall, with 24 hour access. If you suspect someone is having a heart attack, dial 999 for emergency help and ask for the code for opening the defibrillator box. You will need to give the location and the postcode CA9 3RF and CA9 3DS respectively. If possible, send someone for the defibrillator whilst you stay with the person in case CPR is needed.  There are still some places left at the training session taking place on Monday, 23rd at Garrigill Village Hall.

Although the defibrillator speaks instructions as you use it, you are strongly advised to attend a training session in its use and how to carry out CPR. This will give you confidence and reduce stress in an emergency situation.
