Grisedale Croft Summer Fayre
On Saturday the 21st of August the staff, residents and friends of Grisedale Croft Residential Home are hosting an afternoon of fun to raise money for the Residents Amenity Fund. The event will take place in the grounds of Grisedale Croft from 2pm to 4pm and entertainment will be provided by local band the Lounge Lizards.Police appeal for information on stolen bikes
Cumbria Police are appealing for the public's help to trace three pedal cycles that were stolen during a charity bike ride for the British Heart Foundation. Fund raising celidh is great boost for community stage appeal
The ceilidh held at Samuel Kings School on Friday 23rd July was a great success with £443 raised towards the purchase of community staging for Alston Moor.
Alston community project appeal to young people
Young people from Alston have been invited to work with local police to devise and manage a community project. PC Ian Carrick attended SKS where he appealed to a group of volunteers aged between 11 to 16 to take part over the summer holidays.
Access Innovation Award
Cybermoor picked up the inaugural Access Innovation Award at this year's 12th Internet Service Providers' Association ("ISPA") Awards ceremony. The judges felt that Cybermoor deserved the inaugural award for delivering next generation broadband to a community that would not otherwise have received access to such broadband and for its community-based approach.Safer Stronger Community meeting update
A Safer Stronger Community meeting took place in Alston Town Hall on Wednesday 26th May. The main purpose of the meeting was to establish the policing priorities of Alston Moor and it was decided by those present that the main cause for concern was the large amount of broken glass distributed along the river bank from The Dooker along as far as Tyne Willows caravan park.
