Alston Moor Film

Alston Moor Film was re-launched in September 2009. Using a pool of inherited, newly purchased and borrowed equipment, the club has embarked on a programme of film screenings rotating around venues in Alston, Nenthead and Garrigill. The evenings start with 10 minutes of local short films before the main feature, ranging from youth made YouTube pieces to local oral history videos.
After only 6 months, the club is delighted to be able to report that it now has over 100 members and our last film showing of “Up” had an audience of over 60 people!
The club is a members’ only club and annual membership is £2 and the £4 entrance fee is a cover charge to provide free refreshments and popcorn.
Film nights are normally held on the last Thursday of the month and the club plans to bring a variety of films to its members. Watch out for posters nearer the dates to find out what film will be showing at a venue near you!
Alston Moor Film also hopes to be able to offer opportunities for local film makers soon (and would-be film makers) by holding workshops and training in the near future.
