Alston police have issued a CCTV image of a man [pictured left] they want to speak to in connection with an assault in the town on three women.
At around 1.30am on Tuesday, 27th December, the three local women in their early 20s were assaulted by two men in the street at Townhead, Alston. They suffered injuries including cuts, bruises and a broken tooth.
The three women did not know the men who assaulted them, but have described them as follows:
The first was a white man aged in his late teens/early 20s. He was between 5ft 6in and 5ft 10in tall, and of medium build with short ginger hair. A man fitting his description was captured on CCTV in the town. Police have issued an image in the hope that someone might recognise him, or that the man himself will make contact with police, as officers think he might be able to help with their inquiries.
The second man is described as white, aged in his late teens/early 20s. He was between 5ft 5in and 5ft 9in tall, of stocky build and with cropped, gelled, dark hair.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, anyone with information or anyone who recognises the man in the picture or the description of the men should contact Carlisle CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
